If you’re like us, you can’t wait to get back to all the vacations you’ve been missing. And if you like to #TakeToTheOars, those trips probably include a few active adventures like hiking, biking, or hitting the beach. But the thing about these active excursions is that they require the right tools—and grooming products—to make your trip a success. After all, there’s nothing worse than showing up without the key items that make or break your experience.

So, we compiled some short lists of the essential things you need when packing for different kinds of active vacations. Here’s what we suggest picking up before you head to the lake, mountains, or the beach.

Your Lake Trip Packing List

If you’re headed to the lake, the right gear can really ensure a good trip. In terms of clothes, your typical tees and shorts will work just fine, but be sure to pack at least one pair of pants and a sweatshirt for chilly nights. Water shoes are a good idea if you plan on getting in the water. You’ll also need bug spray and of course your SPF Essentials, made with clean, premium ingredients that help protect your skin from the sun.

SPF 50 Body Spray and After Sun Aloe Spray

During the day, wear our 100% Mineral Anti-Aging Face Moisturizer with SPF 30, which gives you instant protection from the sun. It even resists sweat and water for 80 minutes. After a dip in the lake, you’ll want to shower immediately after. Bring our body wash packed with jojoba oil spheres that burst as you scrub to keep your skin hydrated as it cleans.

Another helpful tool is a foldable utility knife for emergencies. A secure dry bag is key for keeping all your gear dry when out on the water. Don’t forget a separate waterproof case for your phone.

What to Pack for a Summer Lake Trip:

  • Light, Casual Clothes for Day Excursions
  • Warm Layers for Cool Nights
  • Water Shoes
  • Bug Spray
  • Sunscreen & SPF Lip Balm
  • Folding Knife or Multitool
  • Dry Bag & Waterproof Phone Case
  • Body Wash, Shampoo & Conditioner

Your Hiking Vacation Packing List

Higher altitudes call for specialized items like hiking boots or other footwear with ankle support—no sneakers. If they’re new or not quite worn in, pack adhesive moleskin to prevent chafing and blisters, which can end your trek early. Pack lots of layers like tees, button-ups, and light jackets, depending on the time of the year. Don’t forget a lightweight, flexible hat to block the sun and keep you cool. You also won’t regret bringing a collapsible water bottle, along with an all-in-one tool that includes a small knife and pliers for emergencies.

Apply our Go Stick Clear Sunscreen at the beginning of your journey for safe, invisible protection from the sun. As you sweat, dry yourself off with a fast-drying microfiber towel that won’t absorb moisture and weigh you down like traditional cotton terry cloth. You’ll also want to fend off odor and excess moisture with the right aluminum-free deodorant. Ours is made with clean ingredients that keep you dry and fresh without using pore-clogging metals. It would also be smart to bring our Cooling + Cleansing Wipes for a quick cool-down at the top of whatever terrain you’re climbing.

Cooling Body Wipes

What to Pack for a Hiking Trip:

  • Footwear or Boots with Ankle Support
  • First Aid Kit with Moleskin for Blister Care

Your Beach Vacation Packing List

In addition to your magazines and beach towels, be sure to bring a few other trusty items along with you to the beach. First and foremost, don’t forget your SPF. We have SPF Essentials featuring mineral and chemical solutions that protect your skin from UVA and UVB rays. For your face, our Everyday Anti-Aging Face Moisturizer with SPF 37 uses a combination of mineral and chemical ingredients that keep you protected for 80 minutes even while swimming. Your lips need protection too, so make sure you have a lip balm with SPF. For your body, our SPF 50 Spray is non-greasy, water-resistant and boosted with Vitamin C and hydrating ingredients to help your skin resist dryness caused by sun exposure. An umbrella, wide-brim hat, and long-sleeve shirt for quick cover up is an additional way to block the sun’s rays.

Sunscreen to pack for the beach

It’s also important to stay hydrated, so consider an insulated tumbler that will keep your drink cool and covered from sand. Wear polarized sunglasses with UV-protection to prevent glare and keep your eyes safe. Dry bags also come in handy on the beach because sand and water can get everywhere. A waterproof phone case can also be a great idea if there’s a chance that water might get to your phone.

What to Pack for a Beach Trip:

  • Sun Block & SPF Lip Balm
  • Wide Brim Hat & Long-Sleeve Shirt
  • Polarized Sunglasses
  • Microfiber Towel
  • Dry Bag & Waterproof Phone Case

No matter where you’re headed or how full your bags get, there’s always room to bring your grooming routine with you. Especially one that uses clean ingredients and works on all skin types. Happy travels!
